Clinical Utility
The MycoTOX Profile is a urine-based assay that uses liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to detect and quantify levels of 11 different mycotoxins—such as Aflatoxin M1, Ochratoxin A, Zearalenone, and various Trichothecenes—as well as additional toxins like Gliotoxin, Mycophenolic Acid, and Citrinin. Creatinine correction is employed to account for variations in urine concentration, enabling detection of toxin levels at parts-per-trillion sensitivity.
The test is intended for patients suspected of mycotoxin exposure, especially those with symptoms such as chronic fatigue, headaches, respiratory issues, cognitive impairment, immune dysfunction, or unexplained chronic illnesses. It is also relevant for individuals with known or possible environmental or dietary mold exposure, including those from water-damaged buildings or contaminated food sources.

First morning urine
Patient Preparation
First morning urine before food or drink is suggested. Optionally, a fasting period of ~12 hours before collection may enhance detection sensitivity. However, fasting is not recommended if running this test in combination with other urine tests.
Avoid supplements or binders such as glutathione, charcoal, bentonite clay, or similar agents at least 72 hours prior to collection, unless advised otherwise by a healthcare provider.
