Please note: For Category A Infectious Substance UN2814 specimens (e.g. from patients with suspected or confirmed CJD or other prion diseases), please contact us at info@iclabs.ca before shipping so we can advise you on next steps. Specimens from patients diagnosed with or being investigated for CJD or other prion diseases require prior approval and are not routinely accepted by ICL testing laboratories. In some cases, the specimen may have to be sent directly to a specialized testing laboratory.
If you’ve already shipped a specimen and later learn it is suspected to be a Category A infectious substance, please notify us immediately at info@iclabs.ca so we can implement appropriate safety measures.
