Parathyroid Hormone Related Protein C-Terminal (PTHrP), Plasma
Test Overview
Clinical Utility
Differential diagnosis of hypercalcemia; manage patients with solid tumors and hypercalcemia.
Two PTHrP assays are offered, one targeting the N-terminal peptides (Parathyroid Hormone Related Peptide N-Terminal (PTHrP), Plasma) and the other targeting the C-terminal peptides (Parathyroid Hormone Related Protein C-Terminal (PTHrP), Plasma). The C-terminal fragment may accumulate in patients with renal impairment and the N-terminal fragment clearance is not affected by renal impairment. To avoid detection of excess C-terminal fragments in renal impairment choose the N-terminal assay.
