Organized Colon Cancer screening with Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT)

As of July 1, 2026, In-Common Laboratories (ICL) is the central laboratory managing the distribution and testing of fecal immunochemical test (FIT) kits for the ColonCancerCheck program, which is run by Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario).

The FIT is an at-home, safe and painless stool-based test used for screening people who may have a chance of getting colon cancer. The FIT checks for tiny drops of blood in the stool (poop), which can be caused by colon cancer or polyps (growths in the colon or rectum that can turn into cancer over time).
