Frequently asked questions: FIT Program reporting

Completing the form at iclabs.ca/FIT/reports does not mean that FIT results will be available in your Ontario-MD Certified electronic medical records (EMR) by July 1, 2026.

Currently, Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) is working with OntarioMD-certified EMR vendors to make this functionality possible.

Completing the online form means that ICL will note your reporting preferences from fax to EMR. Timelines for this functionality are not currently available. Once ICL receives direction from Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) that connectivity is ready, we will adjust your reporting method accordingly. ICL will be in touch to let you know when EMR reporting is available through your EMR.

Please note that along with fax, all results will be available in Ontario Laboratories Information System (OLIS).

ICL will retain your reporting preferences and will change your results reporting method from fax to OntarioMD-certified EMR once reporting functionality is available through your vendor. ICL will notify you when this happens using the contact information you provided through our form.

Until your OntarioMD-certified EMR offers this functionality, you will receive FIT results by fax and through OLIS starting July 1, 2026. If you have further questions, please contact Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario).

If you need to submit OntarioMD-certified EMR reporting preferences for more than one clinician, please do so in bulk via a Word or Excel document by emailing fit@iclabs.ca.

Please ensure you provide the following information for each clinician:

• Clinician Name
• Clinician Type (Physician, Nurse Practitioner)
• CPSO/CNO Number
• Phone number
• Fax number
• Email address
• Full practice address with suite or unit number
• The OntarioMD-Certified EMR used by the clinician

You can begin sending ICL requisitions for FIT testing as of July 1, 2026.

Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) is only working with OntarioMD-certified electronic medical record (EMR) vendors to make FIT results available via EMR.

If you are using an EMR that is not OntarioMD-certified, please contact your EMR vendor directly to discuss reporting options. If you have further questions, please reach out to Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario).

FIT reporting options include:

• Fax (default)
• Mail

Along with fax, all results will also be available in OLIS.

If you work as a locum or work at multiple locations and use multiple EMRs, please fill out one form per location.
