Restrict caffeine, nicotine and alcohol 24 hours prior to collection. Discontinue Methyldopa (Aldomet) at least 5 days prior to collection. Other drugs usually do not interfere with this assay.

Acidify aliquot 6 mol/L (6N) HCl. The final pH must be maintained from 2 – 4.
