Collection Instructions

Blood must be added to PCA immediately after collection in order to minimize
degradation of metabolites.

Handling Information

Pipette 0.5 mL of freshly drawn whole blood from Green top tube (on ice) into cold pyruvate tube containing 1 mL of 8% perchloric acid. Mix and spin in cold centrifuge. Aliquot supernatant into clean transport tube. Re-spin in cold centrifuge and remove supernatant into another clean transport container. Freeze immediately at -20°C.
