Patient Preparation
Restrict caffeine, nicotine and alcohol for 24 hours prior to collection. Discontinue Methyldopa (Aldomet) at least 5 days prior to collection. Avoid reserpine, alpha methyldopa, levodopa, monoamine oxidase inhibitors.

Collection Instructions
Collect urine in a container with 25 mL 6 mol/L (6N) HCl. It is important that the urine is refrigerated during the collection.
Handling Information
The final pH of the urine must be 2.0 – 4.0. State 24 hour collection volume and collection date.
